Implants in Birmingham AL

Dental implants are replacement teeth surgically attached to your jawbone to replace missing teeth. An implant consists of a root form placed directly into the bone and then topped with a crown.

At Daniel Dentistry, we place dental implants to restore your smile if you have one or more missing teeth. Because implants are permanently placed in the jaw, they look and feel just like natural teeth – no one will be able to tell that they are artificial. Plus, implants provide the same functionality as natural teeth, enabling you to chew and speak normally. And because they look so natural, no one will be able to tell the difference between them and natural teeth!

The Procedure for Dental Implants

Dental implants are placed through a simple surgical procedure in the dental office. Our friendly staff will do everything they can to make you comfortable and relaxed, such that you should feel no pain or discomfort during the procedure. Our dentist will use either local anesthesia or sedation to help you stay calm throughout treatment.

Once ready, your dentist will administer the anesthesia and place your implants. The space will be filled once the bone has healed and fused with the implants to create a secure foundation for your restoration. Once your implants are placed, your dentist will have you return in a few weeks to have your temporary restoration placed. This covers the implant and prevents your gum tissue from healing over it. After a few months, you’ll come back to our office to have your final tooth restoration placed.

When you’re missing one or more teeth, it’s essential to replace them as soon as possible to prevent bone loss from occurring. Over time, the bone supporting the teeth will deteriorate without the tooth root stimulating it. Without the support of bone, the facial structure will change, and the cheeks will start to sink in. Replacing missing teeth as soon as they’re lost is the best way to preserve the natural form of the mouth and prevent the appearance of premature aging.

The Advantages Of Dental Implants

They Feel Like Natural Teeth

The root portion of the dental implant is surgically inserted into the jawbone, essentially replacing the root of the missing tooth. This is where new bone growth occurs that eventually fuses with the implant’s titanium post to create a secure anchor for the artificial tooth. As a result, the dental implant feels just as natural as a real tooth.

You’ll Look Younger

Because tooth loss can make you appear older than you are, having a complete set of beautiful and healthy teeth can make you look years younger.
