Oral Conscious Sedation Dentistry
Imagine feeling peaceful, relaxed the night before a dental visit, all throughout your treatment and for the rest of the day. Years of dental neglect can be taken care of in just one visit. Sedation dentistry takes the stress and the fear out of dental work.
According to studies, 75% of people have some level of dental anxiety, and as many as 30% of people with dental insurance have such anxiety that they never see a dentist regularly*. Even when dental treatment is paid for, these patients are so anxious that they do not seek care until it is too late. Sedation dentistry can eliminate this problem entirely. Others who have had trouble in the past also find Sedation Dentistry to be an excellent choice. If you have any of the following problems, Sedation Dentistry may be right for you:
Fear of dental treatment
Past unpleasant dental experiences
Bad gag reflex
Difficulty opening
Difficulty getting numb
Limited time for treatment
Frequently Asked Questions
Will I be asleep?
No, but as I tell most of my patients, you won't care. You will be "intensely relaxed" but still responsive.
Will I feel anything?
No, you will not feel anything.
How long will I be sedated?
Depending on the treatment being done, you may be sedated for anywhere from 2 to 6 hours.
Will I need an escort?
Yes, you will need someone to bring you to your appointment, stay in the office during treatment, and take you home. Ideally this person will be with you until the effects of the sedation fully wear off - up to 24 hours.
